it's definitely a step in the right direction, at least for me. our capture boxes are mostly mac yet our render farm is pc based. i am going to run some tests to see how accurate the pc prorez decoder is. still this may not solve every problem as Avids are still back a few revisions on QT so it wont work for that market yet. Still probably the best crossplatform codec solution is Cineform which will do 4:4:4. the tests i've done with Cineform place it well in the Prorez category for data rate and quality.. but it aint cheap 600 bucks for a 4:2:2 license..
