Re: No video out from Premiere Pro 2 on dual boot iMac

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the response.

Yes, I've had this working on other PCs. I had it working on my Dell workstation at home up until I transfered everything over to the iMac two weeks ago. And I also have it working with other higher end Canon DV and HDV camcorders, and Sony DV and HDV decks at Arizona State University where I work by day. The systems at work are higher end multi-processor IBM and Dell workstations. My Dell workstation at home was just a single processor system.

When I experienced this "no video out" problem with the iMac, I grabbed my external drive and Canon GL2 and hooked it back up to my older Dell workstation. I re-installed Premiere Pro 2 on it, and was able to get everything working normal, including video out through the GL2 to an external monitor. Vegas was also giving me video out through the same setup.

After I finished the project, I moved everything back to the iMac, and I'm still having the same problem with both Premiere Pro 2 and Vegas. I'm assuming it's not a software issue since I'm having the same problem with both Premiere Pro 2 and Vegas. I just can't figure out it it's a hardware issue with the firewire 400 port, or if there is something messed up with the Windows XP Pro install. Or maybe some sort of driver issue. I'm willing to re-install the XP operating system if I need to in order to fix this issue. As I said before, I can capture just fine off of any firewire device I hook up to the iMac, with complete device control. I just can't run video back out through them. Very frustrating.

Do you know of others that are using a similar setup and are having success? Is this something that should be working the way I expect, or should I expect quirks like this because it's a Mac and not a PC? I hope not, because I really like this new iMac.

Again, thanks for responding. I'm not in the middle of a project on this system right now, so I have some flexibility and time to try and figure out what's going on.

Regards,

Jeff
