3D query

Heya,

I'm a long time user of Illustrator (currently CS3) but a complete newbie when it comes to 3D. I have this diagram to do which has a cone shape I'm CERTAIN has a clean, methodical 3D solution in Illustrator (see it here, top left corner: http://imgur.com/xnWLJ). Any of you enviously brainy folk know of a solution?
