Paul,
There is a known difference between the LOUPE and QT windows not matter what you do. I am afraid you are in a bit of a trail and error problem here. It's better in SNOW leopard as what you are seeing is a QT gamma problem.
The bigger question is, are you using Clipfinder as your final color correction? I think it is best to put out a nice flat image when you are sending qt or dpx files out for the color session, rather than assuming that clipfinder will get you a "final look".
