P2 MXF media -- Avid vs. FCP

Hello Everyone,
First off the fact that there's a forum dedicated to media formats is such a great idea. Kudos to whoever decided to do this...
Wondering if anyone's run into this issue i'm having. I have a bunch of media that was copied off of P2 cards that was shot on the HVX in 720P @ 24p (not 24pN). I have imported the footage into both an Avid Media Composer (mac) and a Final Cut 6.0 system.
Here's where it gets weird
The Avid MC imports the clips from P2 directly from the MXF files to a bin and then tells me that the clips are at 59.94. If I import the same clips to FCP (using Log and Transfer) it creates quicktimes in Capture Scratch, imports THOSE and sees them at 23.98.
Weird.... anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
