[jim cornetet] "1)with all progressive settings? will it look film-like with no interlaced lines? will I lose some of the sharpness?"
Part of the "film-look" is the 24p cadence. So rendering 30p will not quite get you there. You will never see interlace lines because TV sets are designed to handle them and not show them and Yes rendering to progressive will definitely loose some of it's sharpness.
[jim cornetet] "2) what if its rendered with default interlaced settings? does this give it more sharpness and looks like "live" TV? any trade-offs?"
Yes. "Live TV" is often associated with video tape and that's what you used. If you want to look more film-like, you should render to 24p and play with the gamma using Color Curves to crush the blacks and whites and give it more of the response of film. (of course, lighting is a lot of the film look as well but that needs to be handled in production)
