I heard 2 sticks were easier on the memory controller but like what was stated...that's likely for high-intensity gaming, but I don't know for sure either as far as rendering goes.
With 8GB, I was rendering some HD footage to MPEG-2 and was listening to i-Tunes, converting NEF files to JPEG with Nikon Capture NX2,and opened up Google Earth and still couldn't break 5GB of usage.
Sounds like a bottleneck somewhere possibly.
