I get better results using the Legacy Disk Drivers, although I've never used your type of source and don't typically use Vegas for CD authoring. Options, Preferences , CD tab, check the "use legacy disk drivers". Might want to reboot windows to make sure it takes effect. This will cause Vegas to use Windows drivers to talk to the disk instead of the Vegas drivers.
