I would leave it at the default. I have mine set to 1024 which gives me more time to ram preview and doesn't seem to affect anything adversely. There was a time when people suggested you set it to zero to help renders but this actually makes rendering take longer in Vegas Pro 11 so keeping it at the default (350) is the best recommendation.
