I have an i7 950 3.07 Ghz CPU
12 GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTS 450
Windows 7
I transfer all my footage from my Canon Vixia HF S21s to my computer via a transfer utility and usb cable. It's AVCHD footage, which I then run through Cineform Neoscene to turn into avi. I keep all my footage and projects on external hard drives, which are actually internal hard drives that are in enclosures that run to my computer through an eSata cable.
I was able to open my projects for at least a few seconds last night and preview some footage. Now I'm getting the avi.dll error, again. I tried a fix that someone posted on Creative Cow a year ago (replace the avi.dll file with the one from the 32 bit version of Vegas), and it would just make Vegas hang and crash.
I want to reformat everything on my computer, but my friend built my computer and has my copy of Windows 7, and he hasn't been able to get me the copy of Windows 7 for whatever reason.
What's really strange is that if I open a new project and drag some of the media into the project media bin that is in the project that is crashing, Vegas runs fine. But I was well into my project, and this keeps happening on projects that I'm well into.
