Here's what Sony Customer Support told me:

"If you uninstall the Titler, reinstall it, and only enter the serial number when prompted during the installation process, you should not have that problem. This is an issue that has been brought to the attention of NewBlue, and we are anticipating an update from them in the very near future. However, in the meantime, if you only enter the serial number during the installation process and do not attempt to open any external registration engines, you should be able to use the plug-in within the Vegas software with no problem."
