If it works for you, it's not for anyone to challenge.
But it doesn't work in practicality nor visual.
The eye only sees two things in terms of perceiving sharpness; resolution and contrast. If you upshift the resolution, the sharpness factor is significantly diminished because now the pixels are greater in number in the same size, but they're softer and less clear. Then when re-sizing they again become softer, but the added softness may generate greater contrast, thus creating the illusion that it's higher quality.
If you have a 2K original image, leaving it at 2K is going to be the best image you can achieve. If you have smaller than a 2k image as source, then using some bicubic resampling *might* give you some additional value, just maybe (assuming you're still not dealing with scanned images).
Spend some time in this community; you'll find that over the past decade, there has been a tremendous amount of discussion on the treatment of still images (which Vegas does better than any other NLE software available).
