I don't know about the audio running slow, but the overall stuttering could be a hard disk drive bottleneck. It's pretty likely that the one on your workstation is faster. Data rate is what will choke the HDD, so you might want to render to a MP4 file format (MainConcept AVC). 10-20Mbps, 2-pass VBR MP4 will look better than equivalent/higher bitrate MPEG-2, with the downside being that MP4 is more challenging for the processor, but since that doesn't sound like an issue for you, it's worth a try.
