I share your frustration but I'm guessing that Sony Broadcast makes slightly more money for the company than Sony Media Software and they have to look out for their broadcast interests. I use only Sony cameras which are supported by Vegas so I don't feel this pain.

As stated above, 3rd part vendors like Raylight have stepped up to filling the gap for Sony and that's probably the best way to address this issue.
