rendering from vegas for QT PRO H264 for youtube
by Wayne Grauel on Feb 24, 2009 at 10:16:52 pm

OK...

I'm trying to get the best out of some clips for a client for youtube. I am using the original time line and original media when possible - in some cases an AVI render is all i have.

My understanding is that uncompressed avi progressive scan render from Vegas 6 or 8 is the way to go.

How about file dimensions?.. thinking of 576X432 to keep the picture as sharp as possible... square pixels? uncompressed AVI...

heres the catch..

when ever i do any of this,.. my AVI file does not have audio when i open it in quicktime its there in Windows media player.. QT just doesn;t pick it up...

So.. to get the absolute best pic quality out of youtube...

What is the consensus... QT H264 sure did better than sending straight AVI to youtube..

So, what do I feed QT Pro for the best render possible..
Are optimal frame dimensions ( slightly smaller then DV NTSC a good strategy?)

here's the existing file in question from NTSCDV AVI to QTpro H264

thanks for any feed back.. so many conflicting stories when i searched for this so thought I'd out it out to my fellow Vegas users..

Thanks
Wayne
