Ralph, I'm certain that Steve is correct.
Most company IT departments have no clue about computers other than making sure that they can run the latest version of MS Office without any grief.
My work IT dept. puts the computer lease up for tender every few years and things like a decent sound card are at the very bottom of their list :-(
