I also use the WD 500 Gig via USB 2.0. They work great.One is a year old, and one is 6months old.
I had a Lacie, and it crashed once, got it repaired, then after 6 months, it wouldn't turn on.
Seagate Barracuda sounds good though too, I was unaware it had a 5yr warranty....
