Thanks Terry. I did update to the latest BIOS wth no effect. However, in tinkering, I changed two settings which helped. One was in the preferences video tab I checked the "use Microsoft Codec" box. Second, in the properties video tab I changed the deinterlace setting from blended to interpolate. Perhaps someone can explain to me what these settings changes would have to do with my problem, or, for that matter, what they do.
