Print to tape/preview unstable

I use Vegas8. It was working fine. Just upgraded to new mobo/cpu. Now 1394 preview and print to tape are unstable with frequent 1-2 sec interruptions to blue screen. Does with rendered or with simple unaltered .avi clips. Problem does not appear in Premiere 6.5. Also, playback is fine with secondary windows disp, and in any preview setting (best to draft). Tried Sandra benchmarking on RAID, aux disks, CPU, memory, chipset. All great. For now I can use Prem, but not when I go to HDV shortly. Have tried disabling audio, adding PCI firewire (Pinnacle), various pref's in Vegas. Nothing works so far. What have I missed? Suggestions PLEEZ!
ASUS P5E3 deluxe (onboard audio and 1394), Intel Quad 9450, 2GB DDR3, WDC EIDE 7200 RPM for prog., SATA RAID0 Seagate 300 GB for media, WDC 200 GB 10,000RPM for previews, GeForce 8600GT
