Vegas crashes when...

Vegas 7 crashes when I am scrolling through the images (m2t thumbs) in the "project Media" bin. I will scroll down and it will suddenly lock up when it hits a certain image/m2t file. I looked closely and the file that causes the lock-up has a green distorted line through the middle of the thumbnail image. When I remove this file, things run smoothly until I experience the same problem again with a different image/clip. This is extremely time consuming, as I spend a couple of hours slowly scrolling through all the caputured clips, waiting for a lock-up, determining which file is causing the problem, then removing this file and restarting vegas(rinse and repeat). Is there any reason for this to be happening? Anyone else having this same problem?
I'm working in HDV 60i.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments.
