Two things you can try.
#1 is to select "reduce interlace flicker" on the offending images (it's a right-click function).
#2 is to select "Best" mode when you're rendering images.

Also, how big are the images after conversion? I seem to recall reading somewhere that images over 2000 x 2000 can cause the problems you're having.
