It might help if you can look at the more detailed log file for the NR service on EDIT2. That usually gives more detail about why it failed.

You should not have to setup the file mappings or to add the EDIT2 rendered onto the EDIT2 NR setup.

However... you might just check that you can indeed access the file mappings from EDIT2.. although I suspect that is something that is probably working.

A common issue is related to the DNS suffix for the computers that is setup in the "My Computers" properties. Your problem may or may not be solved but just in case follow the instructions here
