Nucleo changing my AE memory prefs?

Hi,
I've just recently noticed that my AE prefs for memory & cache have been changed somehow since Nucleo was installed...I set max memory usage to 120% and max RAM cache size to 70% and I have Nucleo set to maximum performance and to use all 4 cores and leave 512mb free. However, when I go to look back at my AE prefs my max RAM cache is now set to something like 38.2000000% and I can't seem to preview as many seconds in my timeline.
Does anyone know what this actually means and what is happening here? I am very new to Nucleo and would love a definitive answer on how to have my settings set up the most effectively. My machine specs should be in my sig below (the mac system)
I am working on pretty big comps (6,000+ x 720 pix) and about 1min duration and just want fastest and longest previews possible.
Thanks,
Jim.
