There's no golden standard for a bit rate. It really depends on the complexity of your material. A talking head is far less complex and a lower bit rate than a stadium full of people waving pennants which needs a high bit rate.

Honestly I suggest you take your most complex material and try a few bit rates to see if the results are what you're looking for in terms of quality.

If you don't want to select a specific bit rate you can also use the "quality' setting (something around 55% should be about right) which can pick a bit rate for you. This will basically guarantee a specific image quality, but the bit rate can vary wildly. That might be what you're looking for as your audience is probably smaller and are more keen on judging the image and content for purchase.
