Matt Rileytimecode track not carrying through to encoded file
by on Jul 10, 2012 at 7:05:32 pm

The documentation for Episode (v. 6) states that if a timecode track is present in the input file and the output file container supports it, the timecode information will be carried through. However, I'm having difficulty getting this to work.

My test file is a ProRes QuickTime file exported from FCP. When I open it in QuickTime Player, the timecode information is there (i.e. it doesn't start at 00:00:00:00). When I encode this file with Episode to a .mov container using the x264 codec I don't get any timecode to pass through. I even tried it using one of the stock h.264 encoding presets and the same thing happens - no timecode track in the encoded file.

I can enable the burn timecode filter in Episode and it shows the correct timecode, so I'm pretty sure the source file is fine.

What am I doing wrong?

-Matt
