Thank you Elvis for your quick reply...maybe something is missing from my understanding of this but you are correct in that manually adjusting the stage made a real difference in how the export resulted. In the future, for an HDV 1440x1080i sequence, what settings would you use?

One other question, I couldn't find the answer in the manual, how do I take several individual emitters from various libraries and combine them into a Favorites library?
