On Seagate hard drive firmware updates:

Customers should follow Seagate's specific instructions on updating their hard drive firmware, but ALWAYS backup your data first.

Although you shouldn’t experience any data loss after a firmware update, it’s always best to be cautious, and back up your data before any major update.
As they say, backup, backup, backup!

We are confident that each product we sell has been fully tested before shipping; however, there are many different versions of firmware for each model of the Seagate drives; and we are waiting for Seagate to address any issues that currently exist.
Although we need to point out that NOT every Seagate drive has an issue.

For the time being and for the reasons explained above, Seagate hard drives have been temporarily removed from our approved hard drive list.

If any customer owns or is considering buying new Seagate hard drive(s), please contact Seagate directly to confirm the firmware on the hard drive is the most current available.

While all CalDigit products have successfully passed the majority tests under the OS X 10.5.6, there are many possible setup combinations / and or scenarios that could occur with our products.
There is still some testing being done with sleep mode, so, if any user chooses to upgrade to 10.5.6 we HIGHLY recommend that they do not use the sleep function until CalDigit releases an update.

Please allow a few more days for our engineers to complete the remaining tests.
