Dave -
1) Data corruption is ABSOLUTLY normal - it's not pleasant, and it doesn't happen to everyone, but when you deal with as many drive arrays as I do, you see crap all the time. So what's the answer - there is no answer. You can keep your data clean, you can back up, you can run disk first aid, and disk warrior, but it will still happen occationally. Some people never see it, others do. The easy answer is to wipe your drive, reraid, and start from scratch. Easy for me to say, but I realize what a nightmare this is if you are going to lose all your media. I have seen this happen on everything from old SCSI arrays (HUGE, Medea, etc.) to Apple XServe RAID's, to the S2VR (and their competitors like Sonnet and Firmtek). As the expression goes - "s#$% happens".
2) As for your AJA System Test speeds, you should get DRAMATICALLY faster response than 120 - 130mb/sec. Leave your cache at 128k, and
increase your drive test to an HD speed like 1920x1080 (don't use 720x486, or even a DVCProHD test - go a MAXIMUM SPEED - even if you don't use this on your system). This will push your system, and you should see a response of over 180mb/sec, and probably over 200mb/sec (unless your S2VR is 90% full).
If you have problems, write back.
