Mike,

The 2009 Mac Pro still reserves SATA ports on motherboard, (one of the SATA ports should be occupied by DVD) but it's not in exactly the same place it was on previous machines, it's moved a bit, but still under the fan shroud. We actually had to manufacture a longer eSATA extender which comes with the CalDigit VR for exactly this purpose.
