Thanks for sharing, Stuart.
My experience:
Shake handles ProRes ootage ok for compositting... Many layers and so.
You'll need a Bytes node at the end of the tree (sometimes at the beginning) but it allways worked fine for me...
It kind of breaks the fuzziness of a 10-bit Unc HD image, and i can take the work home and render while cooking...
Anyway FCP is allways messed up when dealing with alpha channels, any composition beyond 3 layers ends up crushing...
AEX never gave me problems with prores i think but i can't really be certain about it...
