I had previously been using the 2nd DVI port of my X1900 card for video preview when grading. While it worked fine with film RGB stuff, it was inaccurate for YUV work (i.e. video) specifically for color saturation, despite the use of custom LUTs to match it to rec709.
I suspect the issue has to do with a bug common to some other YUV to RGB algorithms in which max values of 255 are clipped down to 235.
The solution was to switch to monitoring via decklink extreme. While on paper either solution should have worked, my experience shows otherwise.
