What you proposing is almost right.
I say almost because I don't know the specifics.
Since I offer a film out service along with consulting in the color management and display calibration with free LUT's specific to our setup, I can say from the diversity of my clients that is a very complex process. There are problems in ALL the steps.
What I can consult you, is to test everything twice and specially the LOG to linear convention that is depended on your film recorder LUT's that is not quite standard as its being expected.
If you need further assistance email me Lakis@motionfx.gr
