Lots more noise when using color?

Has anyone noticed any increase in picture noise on color graded shots as compared to the 3way CC? I've just graded some early morning shots from an HVX200 (I'm aware of the cameras noise issues. Nothing wrong with the pictures, they were gorgeous.). The point is that the grading lifted the noise hugely when viewed on my FCP monitor. I did a similar grading job using a bunch of the FCP 3way correctors and the noise was much less prominent.

I'm new to color, am I overlooking an aspect of the program?
