I saved the project onto an external drive and copied it onto our macbook which has an ATI RadeonX1600 graphics card. When I opened the project the clip had the same problem.
I copied the REDCODE clips to the laptop, disconnected the external drive and dumped the Color preference files. I then started a new project, and imported the clips. The same white stuff showed up.

So there are two completely different computers having the same issue. The only constant is the clip. But the clip rendered out of RCX with no problem.
