It's not too serious if it's for personal projects so if you want to dish out a little cash, I've heard mixed opinions on the 23" Dell Ultrasharp, but that's aimed more at print work. A few people have had bad experiences and some have been very good, but I only know of people working in motion design. You'll probably be doing a lot of guesswork because FCP frequently won't display the image correctly in the canvas anyway.

You could also just burn a DVD/export an H.264 after you grade a few clips and preview it on your TV after you get the settings decent. There's a few websites like CNET that have menu settings listed for many TV models to get the best image out of them. This will at least give you a mild idea of how to compensate in Color and FCP for lack of accuracy.

(Seriously though, that's the name on the paycheck)
