As an alternative to the KiPro, you could consider a MacBookPro and Aja IO Express combo. The IO Express receives SDI or HD-SDI from the camera (even HDMI if your camera lacks HD-SDI) and passes it on to the MBP as a Apple ProRes HQ or DVCProHD stream.

So this is almost like a KiPro but a slightly cost-effective solution.

But for sheer portability, the KiPro is better.
