I know that it's identical to photoshop, but I'm not talking about the curves in photoshop. I'm talking about the Clarity tool in Camera Raw and Lightroom. It's a very different effect, and it's not about tonal ranges: it affects how lines look. It has nothing to do with a "cinematic" gamma curve.

I'm attempting to describe this feature in tonal terms for lack of a better word. It's like trying to explain to a Spaniard (in Spanish) the difference between a Moose and an Elk. In Spanish they're both "ciervo."

This is what I'm talking about trying to do in Color: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/contrast-enhancement.shtml

Or especially this technique: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/techniques/local-contrast-enhancement.htm

Anyone know what I'm talking about?
