Actually, Ive found the HSL keyer reverts to the raw untouched file for ProRes also, which makes me think it will do it for every type of file, not just R3D and ProRes.

Curves can be very powerful if used correctly, very rarely do I have to pull a key to boost, desaturate or shift a certain color.
