Hey everyone. I posted this in Avid forum too.

I have a problem. I am trying to get my sequence into Apple Color.
I am exporting a timeline that I have reconnected to the original XDCAM EX footage. Apple Color doesn't see my actual xdcam mp4s so I have decided to export as ProRes 422 (Standard with no Gamma adjustment, and in 709 colour space). So I can get my ProRes QT into Color along with my EDL as a cutlist. Everything is fine technically, except that the image is at least 20 IRE brighter in the prores than in the original xdcam footage.

I have heard a lot about the world of pain concerning quicktime, prores, Gamma and OSX 10.6. This is only a village of pain at the moment but things might become pandemic if I don't find out what's going on.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't be worried, seeing as it might just be that the whole Luma waveform is just raised in proportion up 20 IRE. So maybe it is ok to just lower it. But then I'm thinking this might add some unnecessary artifacts, by compressing and then uncompressing the contrast.

Besides, it would be a lot less work to start with the floor of the footage at 0 IRE.

Thanks for your time.
