Re: Workflow workflow

Thank you for the replies. I know it's a little convoluted but as you've said previously Arnie (I'm paraphrasing), sometimes you just try to do what the client needs. And the editor is going to edit it in Avid. I agree that testing the workflow is essential. It's a talented DP with whom I have a relationship and this will be a quality project, so I really would like to make it work, if possible.

Let's forget all the extraneous info and boil it down to this:

if I am able to Automatic Duck the Avid offline project to Final Cut Pro and can then digitize from the HDCAM tape directly into FCP (10 bit uncompressed), would I be ok? I wouldn't have to do anything special other than a normal online capture? If I have to start manually re-creating the timeline, it's just not worth it.

They have FCP workstations, so then I would be able to just transfer the files and project to an external drive and bring it with me to my workstation. I would do the reverse for output and use their workstations to output to tape.

Thanks again for your input.
