Nattress G_Blend, soft light behavior different than Adobe
by Guillaume Choquette on Nov 4, 2009 at 6:06:58 pm

Hi!

I've been experimenting with G_Blend trying to recreate some looks I'm used to doing in Photoshop and AE. I noticed that soft light, which I use a lot in PS, has a very different behavior.

As a simple exemple, if I superimpose the same image twice and put the top one in soft light, I'll only get an small increase in contrast in Photoshop, while in Color I get a very drastic change.

Changing the Blend amount would not do since if I'm merging two different version of the same image (for instance, a black and white blended with a colored version.) I have to put the amount so low I barely see the effect of black and white.

I'm just wondering if there's something I'm not getting about the way blending modes interact in Color compared to Photoshop/After effects.

Thanks!
