Sorry Sean,
I would send the 720 clips to Color and use the geometry room in color to make everything he same size. You can then use the FX room in color to do any other sweetening you want to the blowups.
A send to Color command does not create new media, you only render the new media with Color.
My suggestion is to bring all the various sources in, use color as the "picture mastering" software, render out 10 bit uncompressed and use the new FCP timeline as a playback only.
