Try to do some adjustments in RedCine or RedAlert to bring the hot spots down. You can even do a combination of highlights and ISO adjustments. If that helps, then use a Full Res debayer to maximize your adjustments if gong to ProRes.
If no solution works, it's time to have a one to one talk with the DP.

I have no idea why people still use FCP Log & Transfer to process RED (unless is for offline only) as part of their ProRes finishing or color workflow. FCP Log & Transfer throws away TOO MUCH data. I never use it. Everything we convert to ProRes is using the Full Res debayer. It takes forever (unles you have a Red Rocket) but it is the only way.
