The point of the Panasonic monitor being used next to the "real" color grading monitor is to use it as:
1) A client monitor only
2) A preview for what the picture would look like at viewers' homes.

You should not replace a professional color grading monitor for a plasma, lcd or computer monitor if you intend to work with HD, 2K or 4K material. It doesn't make sense and it's not appropriate.

The professional Panasonic plasma monitors could closely match a color grading monitor but it will not show a lot of color, detail, luminance and black levels because it is simply incapable of doing it. At our studio, we have matched the Panasonics as close as possible to the telecine monitors but they are in no way a replacement.

As far as calibration goes, we professionally calibrate the telecine monitors first and then try to match the Panasonics. I hope this helps you make the correct decision not just for you but also for your clients.
