Re: FCP footage not opening in Color

[Gray Wilson] "I have experimented with HDV, H.264, Prores, AIC, nothing. The programs are just not talking to each other. I'm thinking about just doing a total reinstall."

The programs don't really "talk" to each other. The "Send To Color" command is just a script that exports out an XML file, launches Color, and then Color imports that XML file to recreate the timeline.

Sometimes, that the automated export/import fails. As in your case.

The next thing to try: Rather than "Send To Color" use Export>XML from FCP. Rename the file and save it where you'll find it. Quit FCP. Open Color. At the dialog box to Open/Save, navigate to the FCP XML export and open it. Frequently, Color opens it properly and you have a populated timeline.

Then check it by Saving, then Send to FCP and compare the timelines to make sure they match.
