Unless you're a complete masochist, choose option 1 and do it in AE, Combustion, Shake or another true compositing app, or with a roto-specific app or plugin like Motor, Mocha or Silhouette. Rotoscoping is always a painful process - try to make it as painless as possible by using the proper tools.
