I built a house for about $6,000 and it's more comfortable and functional than the $300,000+ one I lived in while building it because I found ways to stretch the limited resources and materials I had to work with, and got alot of stuff from salvage places that was nicer and cheaper than new.

These days technology changes so fast, what's one day a $10,000 camera will the next be barely fit for youtube. If you buy an hvx today and a scarlet tomorrow, you'll be better off than if you bought a real pro cam a few years back. So for people who aren't making 10 features this year a great graphics card and monitor aren't really a good investment, cause the technology keeps changing and becomming incompatible and worlds better. And with alot of hard work I've found I can get better results than some of the lower budget hollywood films I've seen with an old CRT and a macbook pro. Granted I'm still frustrated, and really want better gear, but shit man, if I didn't build a $6,000 house today I could be paying rent for the next 30 years with nothing to show, and if I didn't do corrections on a less than great system, I wouldn't know my ass from my elbow when I finally got to work on a good rig.

That being said, some people are annoying. But seriously, it's such a great thing that these forums are here and the information isn't hidden away. It makes everyone better and gives alot of people knowledge they couldn't otherwise get.

One thing I've found though is that other people will still read the responses to annoying people's posts, so the the effort isn't wasted, and secondly, just don't answer if you don't want to. As long as the forums are still readable and unspammed, this is a great place to be!
