Also...
After the girls are away from the wall, you will need some light to be coming from behind them, but focused on them. This will overpower some of the "spill" you sound like you are seeing due to the reflected light off the green hitting the foreground girls.
Pulling a perfect key in a low ceiling environment might be challenging, but some distance between forground and background (as nancy points out) and keeping that green reflection ("spill") in check are the two major starting points...
