Am I missing something here?

I have been longtime user of Ultimatte and Keylight in Avid and After Effects respectively. I can get clean results that are nearly pro-quality from DV(4:1:1) footage. Unfortunately, it can take forever to achieve these wonderful keys.
Well, everyone kept telling me about Ultra and how it was "made for DV footage so it is fast and looks great!" I recently upgraded to CS3 and got the Ultra 2 with it. After shooting a large amount of DVcam footage on greenscreen, I thought I would give it a try. Long story short, I couldn't get a decent key to save my life! Then, I loaded the sample projects that are included with Ultra, to see how its done. Guess what? It looked terrible too! There is green spill all over the model, and the edges are so soft that you would think they were trying to make her some soft of "angel" or other supernatural being. And this is from the tutorial! Is it really all that bad?
Needless to say, I went back to Keylight.
