Unless I miss my guess, you're referring to the Stop-Motion recording feature in CS3. That was among the features we did not have time to re-implement in CS4, which was effectively a re-write of the whole program for porting it to Mac. It's on our list to be added back in. I'll add a vote for the feature on your behalf.
Please email me whatever information you can on the virtually robotic projector that you're using--sounds pretty slick. That's a use case we had not considered, and it could help tip the scales toward getting Stop Motion back in the app.
